and in Brookfield.

St Peter & St Paul's Church, Stainton, St Peter's Church, Hilton, and St Margaret's Church, Brookfield, are all dedicated:

  • to being a visible Christian presence within the communities they serve,
  • to holding those communities before God in prayer,
  • making real and valued contributions to addressing issues,
  • offering pastoral care, and support, and
  • providing places and patterns of worship to help people from all walks of life to draw closer to God and worship Him.

The Mothers' Union (MU) at Stainton

The Mothers' Union is an international Christian charity that seeks to

support families worldwide.

The Wave of Prayer is an offering of prayer from and for Mothers' Union around the world. It is something that concerns every member as all take part in prayer for Mothers' Union in each diocese of the Anglican Communion in turn. Specific days in the year are therefore allocated to each diocese when prayers are focused on their work and needs. The Mothers' Union also has monthly Midday Prayers for use during each day of the week.

The Stainton Branch meets at 2.00pm on the third Tuesday of each month in the Parish Room at Stainton and is open to everyone who is Baptised and upholds the principles of Christian Marriage and Family Life.

In 83 countries, our members share one heartfelt vision - to bring about a world where God's love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships. This is not a vague hope, but a goal we actively pursue through prayer, programmes, policy work and community relationships. By supporting marriage and family life, especially through times of adversity, we tackle the most urgent needs challenging relationships and communities.

Our members are not all mothers, or even all women. Single, married, parents, grandparents, or young adults just beginning to express their social conscience. For all 4 million members what Mothers' Union provides is a network through which they can serve Christ in their own community - through prayer, financial support and actively working at the grassroots level in programmes that meet local needs. We lobby local and national governments on issues affecting family life and campaign to challenge legislation that neglects the vulnerable and marginalised. We are also represented at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.

The Stainton Branch Leader is Judith Clare.

The Mothers’ Union Prayer

Loving Lord,
We thank you for your love so freely given to us all.
We pray for families around the world.
Bless the work of the Mothers' Union
as we seek to share your love
through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life.
Empowered by your Spirit, may we be united in prayer and worship,
and in love and service reach out as your hands across the world.
In Jesus' name.
Amen
