Our Church Services

Services and Events in our Churches over the next two weeks

On Sunday 15th September 2024 – Trinity 16 – there will be services as follows:

At 9.30am at Hilton Church a service of Morning Praise led by Julia Ardley, Authorised Lay Minister;

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a “Breakfast Church” service (without Holy Communion) providing an opportunity for informal, relaxed worship and fellowship with lots of games, puzzles and discussion, and lots of simple refreshments. The service will be led by our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild; and

At 11.00am at Stainton Church a service of Holy Communion at which Revd Laura will preside.

The lessons set for Trinity 16 are:

  • Isaiah 50:4-9a
  • Psalm 116:1-8
  • James 3:1-12
  • Mark 8:27-end

On Monday 16th September 2024 at 7.00pm in Stainton Church Parish Room the Stainton Mothers’ Union (MU) meeting will be held – all are welcome to attend. The speaker for the evening will be Julia Ardley, our Lay Minister, who will be talking about “Vocation”.

On Tuesday 17th September 2024 at 9.30am at Stainton Church there will be a half-hour Plurality Prayer Gathering.

On Wednesday 18th September 2024 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church there will be a service of Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside.

On Thursday 19th September 2024 at 12.00 noon at Brookfield Church there will be session one of our lunch-time “Stay Curious – Alpha Course”, accompanied by a light lunch.

On Thursday 19th September 2024 at 7.00pm at Stainton Church there will be session one of our evening “Stay Curious – Alpha Course”, accompanied by a puddings/desserts.

On Sunday 22nd September 2024 – Trinity 17 – there will be services as follows:

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a service of Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside;

At 11.00am at Stainton Church a service of Holy Communion to celebrate Harvest at which our Pioneer Minister, Revd Vanessa Kirby, will preside; and

At 4.00pm at Hilton Church a service of Evensong which will be led Revd Vanessa.

The lessons set in the Lectionary for Trinity 17 are:

  • Wisdom 1:16 – 2:1, 12-22
  • Psalm 54
  • James 3:13 – 4:3, 7-8a
  • Mark 9: 30-37

Also on Sunday 22nd September 2024 at 3.00pm to 5.00pm in Stainton Church and Parish Room there will be a fundraising event about the Local History of Stainton and Thornton Villages and the Church. There will be: displays boards, books, leaflets, photographs and a children’s quiz. Light refreshments (tea, coffee, soft-drinks and cakes) will be available. Admission price is £5 for adults and £3 for children with all the proceeds going to Church funds.

On Saturday 28th September 2024 at 10.00am til 12.00 noon at Stainton Church there will be the first of our Angel making workshops to prepare for our Angel Festival (Fri 29th Nov to Sun 1st Dec).
