Our Church Services

Services and Events in our Churches over the next two weeks

On Sunday 2^nd February 2025 – Candlemas – there will be services as follows:

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church – a service of Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside;

At 11.00am at Stainton Church – a “Café Church” service of informal worship, discussions, quizzes and simple refreshments. The service will be led by Revd Laura. [Editor’s note: There will NOT be Holy Communion at this service].

At 4.00pm at Hilton Church – a service of Holy Communion by Candlelight for Candlemas at which Revd Laura will preside.

The lessons set in the Lectionary for Candlemas are:

• Malachi 3:1-5
• Psalm 24:7-10
• Hebrews 2:14-18
• Luke 2:22-40

The Diocesan Reflection for Candlemas is given by the Rt Revd Dr Eleanor Sanderson, Bishop of Hull. Bishop Eleanor reflects on the Gospel reading (Luke 2:22-40) set for Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas); you can find the Reflection at this link.

On Tuesday 4^th February 2025 at 9.30am at Stainton Church there will be a half-hour Plurality Prayer Gathering.

On Wednesday 5^th February 2025 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church there will be a service of Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside.

On Sunday 9^th February 2025 – 4^th Sunday before Lent – there will be services as follows:

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a service of Holy Communion at which our Pioneer Minister, Revd Vanessa Kirby, will preside;

At 11.00am at Stainton Church a service of Holy Communion at which Revd Vanessa will also preside, will preside; and

At 4.00pm at Hilton Church a service of Evensong led by Revd Vanessa.

The lessons set in the Lectionary for 4^th Sunday before Lent are:

• Isaiah 6:1-13
• Psalm 138
• 1 Corinthians 15:1-11
• Luke 5:1-11
