Services and Events in our Churches over the next two weeks

On Friday 31st October 2025 at 4.00-6.00pm at Hilton Church there will be the “Hilton Light in the Night” event of “Treats – not Tricks”

On Sunday 2nd November 2025 – All Saints’ (Sun)Day (transferred from 1st November) – it is also the 4th Sunday before Advent - there will be services as follows:

At 9.30am at Hilton Church a service of Holy Communion at which our Pioneer Minister, Revd Vanessa Kirby, will preside.

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a service of Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside.

At 11.00am at Stainton Church an informal Café Church service with discussion, quizzes and simple refreshments led by our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild and at which we will welcome our guest speaker, Sam Ireton of the Restoration Church in Grove Hill. [Editor's note: There will NOT be Holy Communion at this service].

At 4.00pm at Stainton Church a service of Hope and Remembrance.

The lessons set in the Lectionary for All Saints’ Day are:

  • Daniel 7:1-3 15-18
  • Psalm 149
  • Ephesians 1:11-23
  • Luke 6:20-31

The lessons set in the Lectionary for the 4th Sunday before Advent are:

  • Isaiah 1:10-18
  • Psalm 32:1-8
  • 1 Thessalonians 1:1-12
  • Luke 19:1-10

The weekly Diocesan Reflections have now been reinstated. The Reflection for All Saints’ Day is given by the Rt Revd Dr Flora Winfield, Bishop of Selby. Bishop Flora reflects on the Gospel set for All Saints’ (Luke 6:20-31). You can find the Reflection at this link.

 

On Monday 3rd November 2025 at 12.00noon in Brookfield Church there will be a service for All Souls’ Day.

On Tuesday 4th November 2025 at 9.30am at Stainton Church there will be a half-hour Plurality Prayer Gathering.

On Wednesday 5th November 2025 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church there will be a service of Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside.

On Sunday 9th November 2025 – Remembrance Sunday (it is also celebrated as the 3rd Sunday before Advent) there will be services as follows:

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a service of Holy Communion at which our Pioneer Minister, Revd Vanessa Kirby, will preside.

At 10.45am at Stainton Church [Editor’s comment: Please note the earlier start time] a Community Remembrance Service which is open to all, and will be led by our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild [Editor’s note: There will NOT be holy Communion at this service]

At 4.00pm at Hilton Church a service of Evensong led by Revd Laura.

The lessons set in the Lectionary for the 3rd Sunday before Advent are:

  • Job 19:23-27a
  • Psalm 17:1-9
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17
  • Luke 20:27-38

The Diocesan Reflection for the Remembrance Sunday will be available at this link from about the Thursday before that Sunday.

 

On Tuesday 11th November 2025 at 9.30am at Stainton Church there will be a half-hour Plurality Prayer Gathering.

On Tuesday 11th November 2025 at 10.55am at the Hilton War Memorial at the entrance to Hilton Church there will be a Gathering for Reflection and Armistice Day.

On Wednesday 12th November 2025 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church; there will be a service of Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside.
